Fixed term contract – 12 months
£34,884 – £43,860 + benefits
Location: Hounslow (but currently remote)

We’re more than digital. We’re improving lives.

Your task is to design and create accessible and intuitive content that fully meets the needs of our users. You’ll be part of a new, dedicated Service Design team, with immediate priorities which include improving the accessibility of existing internal and external systems and services, and designing new content for a new internal website.

Joining a multidisciplinary team, you’ll use research and analysis to design and deliver the most effective and user-friendly solutions. By signposting people to the information and services they need using clear and concise content, you will ensure a joined up digital experience from start to finish. You’ll use knowledge you glean from analysing usage data and user testing to identify success and failure, developing and delivering actionable improvement plans. You’ll champion accessibility and usability and act as an advocate for all users of our services, both internal to the council and within our broader communities. You’ll facilitate co-design activities, bringing together the people who use, own and provide services with analysts, researchers, designers and developers, ensuring that the best possible solutions are implemented.

We’re looking for an experienced content designer who is an expert at turning complexity into simplicity and creating effective and compelling online material. You understand the importance of user-centred design and have a firm grasp of user research and business analysis. Experience using Jadu, WordPress and SharePoint (or similar) is essential.

In return for your skills, we can offer the chance to be part of an inclusive team, within an incredible borough. Hounslow has green spaces, unique history, cosmopolitan hubs and fantastic transport links – in short, it’s unlike anywhere else. At the heart of all this is our council, offering flexible working, career development and a whole range of generous benefits.

Join us at the forefront of innovation and use your skills to make a positive impact.

Although we are currently working remotely, it is important that you will be able to travel to Hounslow when required after restrictions are lifted.

You must be eligible to work in the UK.
