Current opportunities in Digital and IT

We currently have opportunities in the following areas of the service:

Designing digital services

We aim to create digital public services that are so good people want to use them. We’re introducing fresh ways of working to ensure that our users’ needs are the heart of everything we do.

Service Design is a new team and we’re looking for great people experienced in service design, user experience design, business analysis and content design. You’ll have skills gained in an environment that delivers services and evidence of creating and analysing needs from the users’ perspective. On top of that you’ll play a pivotal role in championing this approach across the organisation.

Delivering digital transformation

In Hounslow, digital is how we do business. We have an ambitious transformation programme both across the council and within Digital & IT. This programme covers a huge range of services and needs, from traditional IT to cutting edge technology and prototyping of new products and services.

We have an established team but to keep pace with the change, we’re after great people who are experienced in project and programme delivery, project support and business relationships. You’ll be able to show how the work you’ve done has delivered business benefit, whether you’ve managed a project, handled the project portfolio or worked with the business to ensure they get the best out of technology.

Bringing a commercial mindset

We couldn’t design and deliver our digital services without working closely with suppliers and partners. We need to ensure we get the best value out of our assets throughout the whole lifecycle from procurement to retirement. On top of that we need to make sure that our own services deliver on value for money and that we have clear approach to revenue management.

We have an established IT Commercial team that we’re looking to expand, so we’re after great people who can being a rounded commercial view gained in a digital and IT environment. You’ll be able to demonstrate how your management of costs and revenues has helped build high-performing services.

Optimising our data and information

We collaborate broadly within the council to build future services, sharing data to make better evidence-based decisions and working with our strategic partners across the borough. We know that by using data for good we can bring the insight that ensures we design brilliant public services.

We have an established information governance team and have recently introduced a new data science and quality team. We’re looking for great people who can bring their data and information governance experience to Hounslow. You’ll be able to show your passion for data and information, showcasing how your work has benefitted the business and brought data to life.

Supporting and developing our digital solutions

Hounslow has a diverse range of digital solutions covering everything from interacting directly with our community to supporting vital corporate functions that keep the council functioning. As well as optimising our use of existing solutions, our ambitious digital transformation programme will see the introduction of new products and services, all of them designed with our users in mind.

We have an established application management team that we’re looking to expand to meet current demand. We’re looking for great people with expertise in applications or development. You’ll enjoy working across a wide range of services and products and seeing how the solutions we provide improves life for those in our community.

Managing change and problems

With great transformation comes great volume of change. To maintain our existing services and deliver new ones as part of our digital transformation, we need to enable change whilst minimising the risk of any adverse effects. We must also understand where we have problems and what causes them so that we can make our services better for the future.

We have an established change process and now need an experienced change and problem person to help manage the volume of change, to further develop the process and to introduce a more structured approach to problem management. You’ll have great skills gained in an ITIL environment and will be able to demonstrate that your analytical approach has contributed to stable services that have been able to change to meet the needs of the business.
